Christelle Mas (b. 1984, Paris, France) is a French photographer and mixed media artist based in Finland. Her work explores the human connection to technology and other species, focusing on themes of coexistence and human interaction with technology through utopian future scenarios and alternative fictions. Her creative process merges scientific and artistic methodologies, developed through numerous collaborations with scientists and technologists. She works with tactile media, installations, video, interactive experiences, and photography.
Christelle Mas has a Master of Arts degree and a Bachelor’s degree in the philosophy of art from the University of Sorbonne in Paris. She has displayed her work in numerous solo and group exhibitions both in Finland and internationally (Switzerland, Belgium, Austria, Sweden, France, Germany, Estonia, Lithuania, Spain, Serbia). Works by Christelle Mas are included in the collections of the Oulu Art Museum and Kemi Art Museum, as well as in private collections. Mas is a member of the BioArt Society and the Association of Photographic Artists in Finland. She is also a member of M-Cult, an agency for the development and promotion of media art and digital culture. Mas represented the gallery Huuto at the Supermarket Art Fair 2025 in Stockholm. Her artworks were exhibited in Mänttä Art Festival in 2015. She was selected as the Visual Artist of the Year 2024 by the Northern Photographic Centre for the Oulunsalo Soi Chamber Music Festival. Her work was exhibited in autumn 2024 at the Triennial of Art and Science at Klaipeda Culture Communication Center in Lithuania. In spring 2025, Christelle exhibited at the CreVa Festival in Valladolid, Spain
In the summer of 2025, Christelle Mas exhibited Oceanaia, an immersive interactive installation, at the Kuutio immersive space in Oodi Central Library, a landmark cultural venue in Helsinki. She is also preparing for upcoming exhibitions at Gallery Reflektor in Serbia.
Looking ahead to 2026, several projects are in development. These include an exhibition at the House of Visual Art in Oulu, as part of the Oulu2026 programme for the European Capital of Culture. In the same year, she will also exhibit at Gallery Myymälä2 in Helsinki and at Inselgalerie in Berlin.
She is participating in the CULTURHUB online residency, a pioneering digital co-residency program by Art House Turku, Finland, funded by NextGeneration EU. This initiative fosters global artistic collaboration through cutting-edge metaverse technology, redefining the future of cultural co-production. The program whose work explores the intersection of art, technology, and innovation serves as a hub for experimental and forward-thinking artistic exchange in the digital realm.
